  • To provide the service — taking your booking, sending confirmations, and connecting you with the restaurant. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • To send the booking confirmation and notify the restaurant of your booking. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • To manage the waitlist and let you know when DineTrade goes live in your area. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To run, secure and improve the platform, and to keep the board trustworthy. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable service.
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations where the law requires it. Legal basis: legal obligation.

4Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to run the service:

  • Restaurants — when you book, the restaurant receives your booking details (such as your name, party size, date, time and the offer) so they can honour your table.
  • Service providers we rely on — including our database and hosting providers (Supabase, Netlify), our email delivery provider (Postmark), and, when payments go live, our payment processor (Stripe). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
  • Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved data transfer mechanisms) to protect your information.

5Cookies

DineTrade uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage — the small amount of data needed to make the site work, keep it secure, and remember choices such as dismissing the cookie notice. These are essential to the service, so they do not require your consent.

We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking cookies. If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

6How long we keep your data

  • Waitlist details — until you ask us to remove them, or until they are no longer needed for the launch.
  • Booking records — for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
  • Restaurant account data — for as long as the restaurant is a partner, and a reasonable period afterwards.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete your data, where we no longer need it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
  • ask for a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@dinetrade.co.uk. We will respond within the time limits set by law.

8How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls, and trusted service providers. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, so we never see or store your full card number. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

9Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.

10Contact & complaints

For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@dinetrade.co.uk.

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
